South Africa sent athletes to the 1976 Summer Paralympics in Toronto, Canada. In total they sent 39 athletes to Toronto, twenty nine male and ten female.[1] They won twenty six medals in total: six golds, nine silvers and eleven bronze.[2]
This was South Africa's last paralympics due to South Africa's policy of apartheid. The Netherlands, as hosts of the 1980 Games, declared South Africa's further participation "undesirable".[3][4] South Africa was subsequently absent from the Paralympic Games until 1992.[5]
